Delphi Universalist Church Mausoleum

Location: St. Joseph New Cemetery, Delhi Township (outside Cincinnati), Ohio

The next gravesite in St. Joseph's that I felt drawn to was the Mausoleum of the Delphi Universalist Church.  Part of the draw was how mysterious it seemed, the Mausoleum is the only remnant of the church, which began in 1838 and disbanded in 1872.  The land was actually given what is now the University of Akron before it changed hands to St Joseph New Cemetery (St Joseph New Cemetery).  As I said the Delphi Universalist Church is quite mysterious though, I was completely unable to find any information on them aside from what St. Joseph has listed on their website, I tried the Delhi historical society, Cincinnati Public Library, and Akron University's library and nobody had any info.  My own personal speculation is that the Delphi Unversalist Church was some sort of fringe cult, and that possibly Delhi Township got its name from the Church.  But who knows.  Read more for pictures of the inside.
