Colonel Albert Preston was born in Rochester, NY in 1843 and died in San Francisco, CA in 1883. He joined the volunteer army in 1861 and eventually became part of the regular army, retiring at the position of Colonel in 1876. I chose the grave because while it's smaller than most of the graves I've been posting about, there's something stern and majestic about the way it looks. In addition to Colonel Preston his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ord, is also buried with him.
